Contemporary Gardener’s Delight - Cricklade, Wiltshire

Brightly planted borders with feature Oak picture frame structure framing a view of the garden room beyond.
Repeat planting of floating Verbena’s and the hot colours of Crocosmia tying this gardener’s delight together.

This unusually shaped garden in Cricklade was in pretty good order but due to its odd shape and lack of cohesion it offered our client little interest and excitement. Our clients were keen to transform the garden to allow them to spend time gardening and also to sit back, relax and admire the space. We were to retain the large patio terrace at the rear of the house along with a good sized lawn.

Chunky Oak timbers frame views through this garden and give a depth to the space.

Our design included adding in a sunken seating area with big chunky oak timbers to create an overhead pergola. These timbers continued across the garden creating picture frames and definition to the space. A single large raised border packed with a mass of vibrant colours helped to bring colour into the home and patio terrace. A simple paved footpath framed the lawn and provided a way in which to easily tend the plant borders.
